A Voyage to The Past: A Rendezvous for Two Civilizations
Bangladesh, with its history of approximately 3000-years old Bengal civilization, and Pakistan, with its history of 5000-year old Indus valley civilization, has a common voyage to the past. the resemblance between Bangladesh and Pakistan is its historic ruins; inspired to conceive the site as an “archeological landscape”, a meeting ground for two civilizations.
Bangladesh, the largest delta on earth, and Pakistan having a contoured land with a range of mountains in Islamabad also played a key role in setting up the design. The concept of the project thus evolved with a 150-meter long parasol as “jali” against the vertical majestic margalla hills of the island as a subtle intervention into nature - a large water body under the parasol representing the delta with water collecting from rain; overlooking the regal marshall hill complimenting each other.
The project is a 3-storied building with a 9293 sqm, Total Floor area, on a 20910 sqm-land area. The basement is a common parking area; the project has been designed in two parts A &B. One is for the embassy and another official use and the "B" part is consisting the accommodating facilities for the staff.
